Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency with which you need to manually vacuum. Choose a robot vacuum with good navigation, has the ability to clean stairs and corners and has large bins that needs to be emptied periodically.
There are also models that can mop and charge on their own which can be important for people with children or pets. A majority of the top performers in our tests have excellent ability to overcome obstacles.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ an excellent option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.
Both robots are good at removing surface dirt on floors and carpets and are able to move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might encounter. It is also recommended to keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and is packed with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or by voice.
In our tests the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. When connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world filled with vacuums with cords that are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model is an automobile. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households and can fit nicely on the coffee table or shelves where you can move it around like the magic device.
The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large dust or crumbs. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. It is able to swiftly switch from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.

The model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. robotic vacuum cleaner gives the ability to connect two attachments as well as a wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons models, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests show, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical not an extraordinary run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. That's still enough run time to clean most of an average-sized house, but not quite long enough to get every single spot (though an additional run-through often can be effective). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums The 694 is an entry-level model that's a good option for those who don't wish to spend too much money on a robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times for an efficient clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it frequently runs out of battery power before making it back to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer components that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a longer battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and carpets with low pile, while offering a wider range of automation features.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a brand is found on all kinds of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and much more. It's simple to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it didn't do particularly well at avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tried which could be a problem for some buyers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that can be accessed via the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or children when you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be washed for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps keep the bin clean and optimizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for hard flooring. They have an extra-wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2X bigger than the competitors. This allows them to keep the area clean for longer. Plus, they include two side sweepers that clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level according to whether it's collecting surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and control the functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging with the click of a button. The app allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum by using different colors, so you can easily tell the areas where it's focused or where it's got stuck.
The app makes it possible to manually steer the robot when needed. My living room rug, for instance, has a darkly-colored border that could cause trouble for other robots. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as an incline. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
